Ugandan children gathering firewood in the brushes near a village have discovered at least seventeen human skulls encased in metal boxes, APA can report from Kampala on Tuesday.
According to the Ugandan police the site of the find located outside Kabanga village in the Mpigi district of central Uganda may have been a shrine used for human sacrifice.
The police say the owner of the land has disappeared as a manhunt is underway to apprehend him after the children raised the alarm after stumbling on the metal boxes on Monday.
The suspect is also linked to the murder in February of local businessman Daniel Bosa who was targeted by a hit squad shortly after reaching home.
The area around the site is also being combed for suspected burials of more skulls as forensics probe the age and sex of the remains of apparent victims of the sacrifice.
Reports also say the site in question has been used as a place of worship.
