Ugandan legislator Robert Kyagulanyi also Known as Bobi Wine has been remanded at Luziira prison until 2nd May 2019.
This was after being charged with disobedience of statutory duty, an offence prosecution says he committed in July 2018.
Prosecution told a Ugandan court Monday that Bobi Wine, his brother Fred Nyanzi Ssentamu, one David Lule, Edward Sebufu and others still at large disobeyed lawful orders by holding an illegal protest contrary to section 116 of the Penal Code Act.
The charges against the legislator cum singer stem from a protest he organized against the social media tax in Kampala city center last year.
In his submission before the court Bobi Wine vowed to continue fighting what he termed bad policies by President Yoweri Museveni’s government.
Prior to Monday’s arrest and remand, Bobi Wine has been under house arrest after police blocked him from leaving his home for the Uganda police headquarters to protest continued cancellation of his musical concerts.
