The head of the United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), Mohamed Ibn Chambas, in a note received Sunday evening by APA condemned Sunday’s attack on a church in Dablo, in the north central region of Burkina Faso.
During the attack, “six people were killed, including the priest of the Church,” deplored the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative, who “expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the victims, the people and the Government of Burkina Faso.”
In addition, Chambas calls on “the Burkina authorities to spare no effort to identify and promptly bring to justice the perpetrators of this attack.”
He also encouraged the authorities to “take the necessary measures” to eradicate this violence that is “killing” the country, the note said, reiterating the “determination” of the United Nations system and the international community to continue to provide the necessary support to Burkina Faso.
