The President of the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Madam María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés, is currently on a four-day official visit to Ghana, APA learns here.
Madam Garcés was received on arrival on Wednesday by Professor George Gyan-Baffour, the Minister of Planning; Madam Martha Ama Akyaa Pobee, Ghana’s Permanent Representative to the UN; and Dr. Eugene Owusu, Special Adviser to the President on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Sylvia Lopez-Ekra, Acting UN Resident Coordinator in Ghana.
Madam Espinosa is accompanied by Ambassador Kwabena Osei-Danquah, Chef de Cabinet to the President of the 73rd Session of United Nations General Assembly.
The visit is expected to strengthen political support and cooperation between Ghana and the UN General Assembly.
While in Ghana, she is expected to hold bilateral meetings with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo; Professor Aaron Mike Ocquaye, the Speaker of Parliament; and the Leadership of Parliament.
She is the fourth woman to lead the body in 73 years of UN history.
