President Paul Kagame has received in audience the outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Rwanda, Peter Vrooman on Tuesday as the diplomat reached the end of his tenure.
“This afternoon at Urugwiro Village, President Kagame received outgoing US Ambassador to Rwanda, Ambassador Peter Vrooman, for a farewell meeting”, said state house in a tweet.
Ambassador Peter Vrooman concludes his tour of duty after representing his country in Rwanda for three years and eight months.
He presented his credentials to President Kagame on April 6th, 2018.
Before being appointed Ambassador to Rwanda, the US diplomat also served as the Chargé d’Affaires and Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Prior to that he served as the spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi; Director for Iraq on the staff of the National Security Council in Washington, Deputy Political Counselor in Tel Aviv and at the U.S. mission to the United Nations.
He also worked at the U.S. embassies in Baghdad, Beirut, and Djibouti, as well as the U.S. Liaison Office in Mogadishu, Somalia.
