The US Secretary of State Anthony J. Blinken who extended the “sincere condolences” of the United States to Cote d’Ivoire following the death of Prime Minister Hamed Bakayoko, said he served his country with “dedication.”
“Throughout his political career, he always believed that Cote d’Ivoire was a country of peace and solidarity and worked to promote this ideal,” Blinken said Friday in a statement.
The senior US official said the United States deeply appreciated Prime Minister Hamed Bakayoko’s partnership in promoting economic opportunities and sustainable development for all Ivorians.
“We stand with all Ivorians who honour the memory of Hamed Bakayoko,” Blinken assured.
Ivorian Prime Minister Hamed Bakayoko died of cancer on Wednesday in Germany at the age of 56. He spent eight months as head of the government.
