King Mohammed VI’s actions for a “more peaceful and secure Middle East” are being magnified by the head of US diplomacy.
“I met today with my colleague and friend, Moroccan Foreign Minister Bourita, to discuss the strong strategic partnership between the United States and Morocco and how we can achieve common security goals in the region,” Antony J. Blinken posted on X.
On Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken stressed the importance of King Mohammed VI’s “critical voice” in the quest for a “more peaceful and secure” Middle East.
During a meeting with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, Blinken highlighted Morocco’s “leadership” in providing humanitarian aid to Gaza, as well as its support for stabilizing the West Bank and revitalizing the Palestinian Authority.
Since the start of the conflict between Israel and Hamas in October 20-23, Morocco has taken significant initiatives in humanitarian aid, becoming the first country to send 40 tons of aid by land to the war-affected Palestinian territories in June.
Blinken also “welcomed” Morocco’s efforts to resolve the political stalemate in Libya and address instability in the Sahel region.
Discussions focused on strategies to advance regional and global peace, while strengthening the partnership between the United States and Morocco. In a message posted on X, Blinken stressed the importance of this “strong strategic partnership” and the shared security goals to be achieved in the region.
