Holders of all types of Rwandan passports can travel to the Gulf state of Qatar without prior visa arrangements, a diplomatic source revealed in Kigali on Wednesday.
Qatar and Rwanda have signed a visa exemption agreement to grant citizens of both countries with visa-free entry, reports said.
The statement obtained by APA said that from now on nationals of Rwanda can enter Qatar visa-free and spend up to 30 days during a single trip or multiples ones with an option to extend their stay.
The move comes at time when Rwandan President Paul Kagame was on a working visit to Qatar where he attended the 5th Qatar Information Technology Conference and Exhibition (QITCOM 2019).
In the latest passport power ranking, Rwanda comes 62nd globally, becoming one of the most powerful in terms of visa-free score in Africa.
In April this year, the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani visited Rwanda where the kingdom signed four bilateral agreements.
The agreements were signed in the areas of culture, sports, tourism and business.
In addition, Qatar and Rwanda have been working to increase cooperation in various spheres including diplomatic cooperation, political dialogue as well as different potential investments in agriculture, technology, mining, and transport, reports said
