Cameroon’s first choice goalkeeper at the football World Cup in Qatar Andre Onana has been removed from the squad due to a disciplinary row with coach Rigobert Song.
It was also reported that the president of the Cameroon football governing body Samuel Eto’o had attempted to mediate between player and coach.
It came ahead of the Indomitable Lions’ second group game against Serbia on Monday.
Both teams lost their opening games to Switzerland and Brazil respectively and will look to that game to rekindle their hopes of progressing into the World Cup knockout stage.
26-year-old Onana who plays club football for Inter Milan was involved in a bust-up with Song over his approach to the game which infuriated the Cameroon manager.
Second choice keeper Devis Epassy, 29 has been named into the squad to face Serbia in a must-win game for the five-time African champions and the 1990 World Cup quarterfinalists.
Cameroon were losing 3-1 to Serbia having opened the scoring with a simple tap-in from a corner in the first half but two goals in quick succession in the second period ensured a draw.
Epassy who plays for Saudi Arabian outfit Abha has made just five appearances for his country.
