The head of the transitional government has called on the people of Burkina Faso to have confidence in the current authorities.
“The country’s current authorities are committed to asserting Burkina Faso’s sovereignty and putting the country on the road to development,” said Apollinaire Kyélem de Tambèla on Monday, 1 July 2024.
According to him, this commitment has led to “upheavals and disturbances” among local henchmen, whose interests are now being questioned.
The prime minister addressed certain intellectuals, workers and businessmen. These people, he said, were angry with the current regime, whose only crime was to question what they considered to be permanent gains for their own benefit.
“Their aim is to overthrow the regime by any means necessary, including the most immoral, with the support of their Western masters and their African sub-chiefs in the sub-region. Apart from Burkina, these people are mainly in France, the United States and, closer to home, Cote d’Ivoire,” the Prime Minister accused.
But the head of government was reassuring: “Don’t be afraid, Burkina Faso is in good hands with President Traoré.”
