APA – Cottoned (Benin) – Since September 8, Benin has been hosting the fiftieth World Petanque Championship.
On Monday, September 11, the subsidiaries of AGL (Africa Global Logistics) in Benin: Benin Terminal and AGL Benin, entered into a partnership with the Benin Petanque Federation (FBP) to actively support the Beninese national team’s participation in a world competition.
This initiative is part of the 50th edition of the World Petanque Championship, which will be held for the first time in Benin, from September 8 to 17, 2023, at the Esplanade de l’Amazone in Cotonou.
The signing ceremony took place at the company’s headquarters in Cotonou. This support aims to provide the necessary financial resources to alleviate the federation’s burden and enable Beninese athletes to proudly represent their country at this prestigious world championship.
“Today’s signing of this partnership agreement is the result of a process that began several months ago. We would like to thank AGL in Benin for their support and commitment to the BPF. Their determination on our side and in favor of the national team is a testimony to their exemplary citizenship and confirms once again the unity of all stakeholders to fly the colors of Benin at this World Cup,” said Mr. Casimir Djossou, Secretary General of the BPF.
As a major player in the field of transport and logistics, AGL in Benin regularly supports important projects aimed at promoting sport, professionalizing it and encouraging the development and presentation of sporting talent, which is the pride of Benin at major international competitions.
“AGL in Benin is honored to be associated with this BPF project. All our teams stand by our ambassadors and our athletes who will wear the national colors at this World Cup. Our commitment to being at the heart of Africa’s transformation also means helping to highlight the best of what is being done in all of our territories. That’s why we are supporting this historic first in Benin, where every local player must be committed to putting our national team on the podium,” said Venance Gnigla, AGL Executive Chairman.
