APA-Harare (Zimbabwe) Two-way trade between China and Zimbabwe rose by 29.9 percent in 2023 compared to the previous year, clocking a record US$3.12 billion during the 12 months to last December.
According to the Chinese embassy in Zimbabwe on Monday, the trade was skewed in favour of Zimbabwe, with the southern African country enjoying a trade surplus of US$307 million.
“Zimbabwe exported US$1.71 billion to China and imported US$1.41 billion from China, resulting in a trade surplus of US$307 million for Zimbabwe,” the embassy posted on microblogging site X, formerly Twitter.
Zimbabwe’s main exports to China include minerals and agricultural products such as citrus fruits and tobacco, while it imports machinery from the Asian giant.
