APA-Harare (Zimbabwe) The Southern African Development Community (SADC) has appointed Zimbabwean economist Judith Kateera as new head of administration at its Botswana headquarters.
She was sworn in as SADC deputy executive secretary responsible for corporate affairs during 43rd SADC Summit held in the Angolan capital Luanda on Thursday.
Kateera replaces Seychellois national Joseph Nourice as SADC deputy executive secretary responsible for corporate affairs whose eight-year term comes to an end in October this year.
In her new role she will be responsible for the budgeting and human resources functions at the SADC Secretariat as well as for support services such as conferencing, procurement, and information and communication technology.
Prior to the appointment, Kateera was African Development Bank executive director responsible for Angola, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
Before that she served as permanent secretary in a number of Zimbabwe government ministries.
