The Porcupine Warriors, playing in front of a packed home crowd, had to come back from a goal down, to settle for a draw.
The 1-1 draw means Kumasi Asante Kotoko has slipped to third position on seven points in their group.
Nkana FC leads the group on nine points followed by Al Hilal with eight points in second place.
ZESCO are at the bottom on four points, thereby leaving the group very open with just a game to play.
Only two teams qualify from the group to the quarter-final stage of the competition.
Soccer fans who trooped in their numbers to the stadium to witness the game said they were not very happy about the results but were hopeful the team could win their last match away to ZESCO in Zambia next weekend.
They also rued the numerous scoring chances their team created but failed to utilise them.
“I nearly gave up on the team until in the last minute when our equaliser came. In fact, I am not very happy with the team’s performance,” said Yaw Frimpong, a staunch supporter of the team in Kumasi.
Meanwhile, Coach C. K. Akonnor of Kotoko, has told the media that he has psyched up his players to approach the last game with a winning mentality to secure progression to the next stage of the competition.
