The mayor of the city of Saint-Louis (north) and brother-in-law of former President Macky Sall, Mansour Faye, claimed he has been barred from leaving Senegalese territory.
“I would like to inform national and international opinion that I was unjustly prevented from boarding the Air France flight, this Monday, March 10, 2025, to Jeddah via Paris, to perform the minor pilgrimage to Mecca. When I asked the police officer about the reason for my ban on leaving, he replied: ‘It is on the instructions of the Higher Authority’, Faye a former Minister of Infrastructure, Land Transport wrote on his Facebook page on Monday evening.
“To my knowledge, I am not the subject of any procedure, any investigation, or any accusation whatsoever! If this ban is political, this Authority will continue to suffer! Let her know that I am and
will remain standing, straight in my boots,” added Mansour Faye.
While the Judicial and Financial Pool (PJF) has already taken several individuals, including dignitaries of the former regime, into preventive detention, the new authorities have not yet made a statement regarding possible prosecutions against the former infrastructure minister.
Following the travel ban on her brother, Marième Faye Sall, former First Lady, reacted angrily to the press.
“Let us all be arrested, he has done nothing,” she said in the daily Libération newspaper, stressing that “for nine months, they have been trying to humiliate Mansour Faye.”
