Three university colleges have been granted Presidential Charter to award degrees by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The colleges are the Methodist University College, Ghana, the Presbyterian University College, Ghana and the Catholic University College, Ghana.
According to a statement by the Office of the President and signed by the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, the Colleges have been directed to take the necessary steps to prepare their respective Presidential Charters for the signature of the President.
With this approval, the colleges will become independent degree-awarding institutions.
Local media reports on Sunday said that the three university colleges were previously affiliated with other institutions of higher learning.
