In September, Africa Global Logistics Angola was awarded the prize for best infrastructure project for its achievements during the period 2023-2024 and its contribution to the development of the Angolan energy sector.
The award was presented by Angola’s national oil, gas and biofuels agency (ANPG) in collaboration with the Association of Oil Exploration and Production Companies in Angola (ACEPA).
The award is the result of a project to modernise the multipurpose terminal at Lobito, where AGL will invest nearly €100 million via its port subsidiary ALT (Africa Global Logistics Lobito Terminal). The company plans to turn this port into a modern, efficient and competitive platform, able to satisfy the expectations of national and international customers while supporting the growth and diversification of the Angolan economy.
“The project to build and develop infrastructure at the port of Lobito will reduce the time needed to transport oil and mining resources to and from the DRC to Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, Beira in Mozambique and Durban in South Africa. It will also promote the development of the African supply chain to European and American markets. This is highly beneficial for the country and the sub-region,” explains Paulino Jerónimo, Chairman of ANPG.
“Our ambition is to make a permanent contribution to the transformation of the country and the diversification of its economy by investing in infrastructure, people and modern, highperformance tools. The Lobito project will enable Angola to support growth in the sub-region,” says Jean-Yves Lunot, Managing Director of AGL Angola.
Angola’s second largest port, the Port of Lobito is located in the city of Benguela. It is strategic to the global energy transition, being the first Atlantic gateway to the Copperbelt province. The port helps to transport copper and cobalt to international markets, as well as contributing to the development of agricultural production basins and the industrialisation of the region.
Present in the logistics sector through its subsidiary, Africa Global Logistics Angola offers economic operators logistics solutions in all the sectors of activity that govern the country’s economic life at 4 hubs (Luanda, Lobito, Soyo and Cabinda).
