Air Botswana resumed direct flights on Friday between Gaborone and the capitals of neighbouring Zambia and Zimbabwe, the airline has announced.
In a statement, Air Botswana said it would ply the Gaborone-Lusaka and Gaborone-Harare routes on Fridays and Sundays for the first time in over two years.
“Air Botswana is pleased to announce the re-commencement of flights between Gaborone, Harare and Lusaka from the 6th May 2022,” the airline said.
It said the frequency of flights to these destinations would be increased to three times weekly “as demand builds up”.
Air Botswana stopped flights to several countries in April 2020 following the announcement of the coronavirus pandemic, as states took measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
“We are optimistic that in due course the desire to travel will be even stronger and have positioned ourselves to cope with the much-anticipated travel demand both locally and regionally,” Air Botswana general manager Agnes Khunwana said.
