Kenyan President William Ruto has told some of his African peers in Nairobi on Monday that the African Union would be undergoing decisive transformation in a bid to render it responsive to the continent’s needs.
”We are fashioning a more efficient and robust financially-independent and fit-for-purpose African Union that will be more responsive to the continent’s needs” he told fellow heads of state at the start of the Retreat of the Extended Bureau on the Implementation of Institutional Reforms of the African Union.
”We committed to strategically align our visions, work together to deal with our challenges and seize emerging opportunities to unlock our potential and elevate Africa’s global profile”.
Ruto’s peers include Presidents Azali Assoumani of the Comoros, Umaro El Mokhtar Sissoco Embalo of Guinea-Bissau,, Taye Selassie of Ethiopia and John Dramani Mahama of Ghana.
The African Union Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat is also attending.
