Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has paid tribute to a renowned Nigerian journalist, Peter Enahoro, who died in London on Tuesday at the age of 88.
A statement by Presidential spokesman Femi Adesina said that Buhari believed that Enahoro earned the public trust through his fearless writings, tenacity and commitment to the pursuit of truth.
The Nigerian leader acknowledged that the passion of Enahoro was second to none and that the late journalist used his knowledge and mastery to mentor others.
He prayed for internal rest for the soul of Enahoro, while urging those he left behind to reflect on his good works and contributions to the country.
Enahoro, popularly known by his pen name, Peter Pan was born on January 21, 1935. Enahoro was a journalist, author, businessman and publisher.
He attended Government College, Ughelli in Delta State. He was appointed the Editor of the highly influential Sunday Times at the age of 23 in 1958, and Editor of the Daily Paper in 1962 before assuming the position of Editor-in-Chief in 1966. He was later appointed the Managing Director/Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Times of Nigeria.
Enahoro was also the pioneer Chairman, Nigerian Broadcasting Commission.
