The transition authorities in Ouagadougou have frozen the assets and economic resources of at least 113 individuals and 2 legal entities, according to an order by the Minister of Economy, Dr. Aboubacar Nakanabo, signed on November 19, 2024.
Among the individuals mentioned are deposed juta leader Paul Henri Damiba, the two former foreign affairs ministers, Gendarmerie General Djibril Bassole, journalists Alpha Barry, Abdoulaye Barry, Newton Ahmed Barry and the former deputy mayor of Dori Aziz Diallo.
Several officers, some of whom have already been dismissed from the Burkina National Armed Forces, are also affected by the ministerial order. This is the case, for example, of Amed Kinda, the former commander of the National Theater Operations Command (COTN) Yves Didier Bamouni, Romeo Ouoba, former commander of the special forces.
The same group was cited in a plan to destabilize the Burkinabe transition.
The ministerial decree also targets armed terrorist groups that are active in Burkina Faso. These are the Support Group for Islam and Muslims (GSIM), the Macina Liberation Front, Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, Ansardine, Almourabitoune, the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara, etc.
According to the order seen by APA, these affected are accused of “participation in acts of terrorism or financing of terrorism.”
