Global technology company SLB announced on Wednesday the opening of its African Performance Centre located in Luanda, Angola.
The centre will serve as a collaborative hub and offer stakeholders access to innovative solutions in the digital, artificial intelligence, oil and gas, and new energy sectors in Angola and Africa.
The state-of-the-art 3,200 m² facility marks a significant step in SLB’s commitment to promoting collaboration, innovation and human capital development in the industry, building on SLB’s global network of interconnected innovation and performance centres.
Miguel Baptista, managing director of SLB Angola, Central and East Africa, noted that collaboration is essential “to deliver effective and scalable solutions that sustainably address operational needs.”
“With this performance centre, our goal is to work with our clients, leveraging our global expertise, diverse technology portfolio and digital workflows to deliver localised solutions,” Baptista said.
“This collaborative approach leveraging the latest technologies such as AI will enhance customer performance and boost production, thus meeting Angola’s ambition to maintain its production above one million barrels per day until 2030.”
“This centre will be a catalyst for digital transformation and sustainable development in our country and will leverage science, technology and innovation to drive economic growth and improve the quality of life of our citizens,” added Alice de Fátima Pinto de Ceita e Almeida, Secretary of State for Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation.
The performance centre aims to provide a unique platform for capacity building, skills enhancement, and the empowerment of local talent in various digital and technology fields, with the goal of developing sustainable industrial solutions in Angola.
“Angola welcomes and encourages investment in the oil and gas industry. We hope that other investments will follow because the time is right to invest in Angola!” concluded Diamantino Azevedo, Minister of Petroleum and Gas.
