Burkinabe authorities have launched a campaign to collect documents that bear witness to the life and times of late military ruler Thomas Sankara.
The spokesperson for the Burkinabe government received archives and artifacts associated with the Mr. Sankara on Tuesday.
These are 571 pieces of archival documents, 159 digital photos, 110 analog photos and five statuettes related to the father of the August 1983 Revolution.
These items were collected by the National Archives Center and handed over to the Ministry of Culture for the benefit of the Management Unit of the Thomas Sankara Memorial Infrastructure Construction Project.
“No one can develop without knowing their history,” stressed the Special Advisor to the President of Faso, Samuel Kalkumdo.
According to him, the Burkinabe presidency is playing its part to explain to current and future generations the works and history of Captain Sankara.
“It is a great source of pride for the presidency of Faso to contribute to the perpetuation of the memory of the late Thomas Sankara,” said the representative of the current head of state, who called for the collection to continue.
