A new breakthrough for Burundian diplomacy. Six new ambassadors extraordinary and plenipotentiary representing Romania, Hungary, Algeria, Indonesia, the Philippines and Malawi have presented their letters of credentials to the Head of State, Evariste Ndayishimiye, during a series of hearings held Monday, June 27 at the Palace Ntare Rushatsi.

Tang residing in Nairobi and Andrew Zumbe Kumwenda residing in Dar es Salaam.
Through the appointment of its ambassador, Zsolt Mészáros, the Republic of Hungary, which opens its representation for the first time in Burundi, promises to maintain cooperative relations with Gitega particularly in the areas of education and fish farming.
“This is a historic event. This representation will facilitate exchanges between our two peoples,” said the Hungarian diplomat.
The President of the Republic, Evariste Ndayishimiye, during the exchanges held with each of these ambassadors, proceeded to a brief presentation of the socio-economic situation of Burundi, a country that is trying to rebuild itself after a long period of civil war, he said.
“What is needed now is a South-South cooperation based on shared development objectives,” said the Burundian president.
The new ambassadors, for their part, pledged to strengthen the relations of friendship and bilateral cooperation between Burundi and their respective countries through their sectors of intervention.
