Shortly after his formal resignation, Ambassador Allah Maye Halina has been reappointed as the head of the Chadian government by presidential decree.
Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno announced Halina’s reappointment on Tuesday evening during a broadcast on national television by Mahamat Ahmat Alhabo, Secretary General of the Presidency.
This appointment coincides with the resignation of the previous government and the installation of the new National Assembly, marking the beginning of the fourth legislature in Chad’s democratic era.
By decree No. 064/2025, the Chadian Head of State reiterated his confidence in Ambassador Allah Maye Halina, who had tendered his resignation “in accordance with republican tradition” following the establishment of the new legislature.
Halina’s swift reappointment is seen as an indication of continuity in the policies pursued since the presidential election held on May 6, 2024. The formation of the new government is expected to occur in the coming days, or even hours.
