He urged Nigerians to be wary of the increasing trend of cholera cases across the country as the rainy season intensifies.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi, has said that the cholera strain reported in Lagos State is highly aggressive and contagious.
The Commissioner disclosed that the laboratory tests carried out on samples from the state confirmed that the identified strain had the potential for widespread dissemination.
Prof. Abayomi, who gave the update of the spread of cholera in the state through his Instagram page @profakinabayomi, stated that Cholera is a food and water-borne disease caused by ingesting the bacteria, Vibrio cholera, in contaminated water and food.
