The Senegal National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) expressed deep concern on Friday regarding the situation of Senegalese nationals in Mayotte, who have been severely affected by the passage of Cyclone Chido.
The hurricane, which devastated Mayotte, has resulted in significant loss of life and considerable material damage in the region.
In a press release, the CNDH issued an urgent call for mobilization to provide immediate humanitarian aid, addressing the essential needs of the victims.
The Commission also urged the Senegalese authorities to intensify their efforts to protect and support Senegalese nationals in Mayotte, in coordination with diplomatic and consular missions.
Additionally, the CNDH stressed the need to uphold human rights while ensuring the dignity, safety, and health of the affected individuals.
The institution expressed its solidarity with all those impacted by this tragedy, paying tribute to the victims and offering condolences to the grieving families.
Finally, the CNDH called on citizens to report any concerning situations.
