The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 1,470 new cases and 35 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Thursday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (21), Cape Verde (96), Ivory Coast (162), Gambia (66), Ghana (193), Guinea (303), Guinea-Bissau (19), Liberia (12), Mali (48), Niger (34), Nigeria (187), Senegal (174), Sierra Leone (5) and Togo (150). The new deaths were recorded in Cape Verde (1), Gambia (5), Ghana (7), Guinea (2), Guinea-Bissau (2), Mali (1), Niger (2), Nigeria (9), Senegal (5) and Togo (1). West Africa now has 415,831 total cases, 5,454 total deaths and 378,756 total recoveries.
Nigeria (161,261) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (88,421), Ivory Coast (38,282), Senegal (37,428), Guinea (18,285), Cape Verde (16,250), Burkina Faso (12,399), Mali (9,066), Togo (8,472), Benin (6,501), Gambia (5,085), Niger (4,904), Sierra Leone (3,947), Guinea-Bissau (3,488) and Liberia (2,042).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,027) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (995), Ghana (705), Mali (365), Ivory Coast (214), Niger (185), Gambia (158), Cape Verde (158), Burkina Faso (144), Guinea (106), Togo (98), Liberia (85), Benin (81), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (54).
Also, Nigeria (146,395) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (84,095), Ivory Coast (35,487), Senegal (33,643), Guinea (15,801), Cape Verde (15,599), Burkina Faso (11,978), Mali (6,556), Togo (7,026), Benin (5,552), Gambia (4,620), Niger (4,525), Guinea-Bissau (2,791), Sierra Leone (2,789) and Liberia (1,899).
Africa has registered 4,098,814 total cases, 108,947 total deaths and 3,668,438 total recoveries while the world has recorded 122,075,704 total cases, 2,696,261 total deaths and 98,363,068 total recoveries.
