The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 543 new cases and 16 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Tuesday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (10), Cape Verde (65), Ivory Coast (242), Gambia (19), Guinea (20), Mali (50), Nigeria (48), Senegal (52) and Togo (37). The new deaths were recorded in Ivory Coast (2), Gambia (1), Guinea (2), Mali (5), Nigeria (1) and Senegal (5). West Africa now has 431,719 total cases, 5,667 total deaths and 397,497 total recoveries.
Nigeria (162,641) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (90,287), Ivory Coast (43,422), Senegal (38,618), Guinea (19,793), Cape Verde (17,190), Burkina Faso (12,702), Mali (9,921), Togo (9,992), Benin (7,100), Gambia (5,420), Niger (4,987), Sierra Leone (3,970), Guinea-Bissau (3,634) and Liberia (2,042).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,049) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,049), Ghana (740), Mali (384), Ivory Coast (239), Niger (185), Gambia (164), Cape Verde (165), Burkina Faso (145), Guinea (125), Togo (107), Benin (90), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (61).
Also, Nigeria (150,466) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (87,137), Ivory Coast (39,295), Senegal (37,228), Guinea (16,547), Cape Verde (16,160), Burkina Faso (12,375), Mali (6,790), Togo (7,770), Benin (6,452), Gambia (5,050), Niger (4,586), Guinea-Bissau (2,940), Sierra Leone (2,802) and Liberia (1,899).
Africa has registered 4,232,623 total cases, 112,575 total deaths and 3,798,482 total recoveries while the world has recorded 128,553,055 total cases, 2,809,184 total deaths and 103,675,148 total recoveries.
