The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 812 new cases and 12 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Wednesday.
The new cases were recorded in Benin (109), Burkina Faso (19), Cape Verde (154), Ivory Coast (44), Ghana (74), Guinea-Bissau (1), Liberia (49), Mali (101), Niger (9), Nigeria (120), Senegal (74), Sierra Leone (1) and Togo (57). The new deaths were recorded in Benin (2), Burkina Faso (1), Cape Verde (1), Ivory Coast (1), Ghana (1), Mali (3), Niger (1), Senegal (1) and Togo (1). West Africa now has 451,657 total cases, 5,945 total deaths and 421,565 total recoveries.
Nigeria (164,423) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (91,783), Ivory Coast (45,614), Senegal (39,910), Guinea (21,633), Cape Verde (20,781), Burkina Faso (13,167), Togo (12,610), Mali (13,246), Benin (7,720), Gambia (5,784), Niger (5,140), Sierra Leone (4,042), Guinea-Bissau (3,713) and Liberia (2,091).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,061) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,096), Ghana (772), Mali (444), Ivory Coast (275), Niger (191), Cape Verde (194), Gambia (170), Burkina Faso (155), Guinea (139), Togo (121), Benin (97), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (66).
Also, Nigeria (154,406) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (89,661), Ivory Coast (45,199), Senegal (38,668), Guinea (18,991), Cape Verde (18,350), Burkina Faso (12,812), Togo (10,350), Mali (7,613), Benin (7,510), Gambia (5,225), Niger (4,791), Guinea-Bissau (3,170), Sierra Leone (2,883) and Liberia (1,936).
Africa has registered 4,492,465 total cases, 118,976 total deaths and 4,014,897 total recoveries while the world has recorded 144,125,850 total cases, 3,064,616 total deaths and 122,586,006 total recoveries.
