APA-Abidjan (Ivory Coast) Former international footballer, Didier Drogba held talks with Ivorian Education and Literacy minister, Mariatou Kone, on projects which his foundation intends to support.
The meeting took place on Monday, March 6, 2023 at the Office of the Minister of Education and Literacy, in Abidjan.
The discussions focused on the collaboration between the Ministry and the Didier Drogba Foundation, including literacy projects and dictation.
Welcoming the citizen actions of high social significance carried out by the Didier Drogba Foundation, the Minister called for a pooling of efforts and a synergy of actions to significantly reduce the country’s illiteracy rate which is current 47 percent.
She also announced the “revision and updating” of the national literacy strategy, in line with the recommendations of the General Conference of National Education and Literacy (EGENA).
Expressing his satisfaction with the quality of the discussions, Drogba hailed the remarkable work and leadership of Minister Mariatou Kone, who is multiplying actions for a school epitomising merit and quality in transparency and equity.
