APA – Kigali (Rwanda) – Egyptian club Pyramids FC got a first-leg advantage by holding APR to a 0-0 draw at Kigali Pele Stadium during the round of 32 clash in the CAF Champions League played on Sunday.
This was Pyramids FC’s inaugural appearance in the prestigious competition, marking a significant milestone for the club.
However, they had to play the match without veteran playmaker Abdallah El-Said and classy winger Ramadan Sobhi, who were both sidelined due to injuries.
The hosts began the game brightly, creating two clear-cut opportunities within the first 25 minutes.
They also had a goal disallowed for offside just four minutes later.
In response to their sluggish start, coach Jaime Pacheco made a substitution, introducing Burkinabe international midfielder Blate Toure at the expense of Ahmed Tawfik to bolster the midfield and gain better control over the game.
The second half witnessed a noticeable improvement in Pyramids FC’s performance as they asserted their dominance in terms of possession.
However, they failed to pose a significant threat in front of goal.
The second leg is scheduled to take place in Cairo after a two-week period.
