The embattled airlines which has suffered torrid times over the last two weeks after the fatal crash of one of its planes, lived up to its reputation as a leading aviation hub in the continent.
Reacting to the award on its Facebook page Ethiopian Airlines described the decision as “a true Pan- African recognition”.
“We are honored to be awarded as African champion. Thank you very much for the strong vote of confidence that Africa has given us even at the most challenging time in our history” Tewolde Gebre Mariam, Ethiopian Airlines CEO said.
The seventh annual Africa CEO Forum 2019 opened in Kigali on Monday with a call by Rwandan President Paul Kagame for the continent’s immense, unlimited opportunity and capacity, knowledge and expertise to be utilized optimally.
The two-day forum brought together African heads of state, CEOs, investors, top executives, experts and other officials from various industries to deliberate on Africa’s business prospects.
2019 marked the seventh edition of this continental forum, and focussed on the Continental Free Trade Area, which is hoped will integrate Africa into a single market.
