Ethiopia has earned $13.04 million from electric power export to Sudan and Djibouti in two months, the Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) disclosed on Monday in a statement.
Ethiopia’s state-owned power producer has exported a total of 232.76 million kilowatt-hours of electric power to both neighboring countries to earn the stated sum of money..
The export revenue figure is more than $5 million short of the target authorities set for the period.
EEP’s plan was to export 349.56 million kilowatt-hours of power worth $18.5 million.
Sudan has bought 112.36 million KWH of electric power from Ethiopia for $5.61million in the two month period.
EEP, however, has been able to surpass its power export target to Djibouti by 15.38 percent.
The state run entity said it has sold 120.39mln kWh electricity to Djibouti and secured $7.42 million in revenue.
