Ethiopia on Sunday registered no daily COVID-19- related deaths for the first time in nearly five months.
There had not been a day without confirmed COVID-19 fatality since July 19, 2021.
Ethiopia’s current COVID-19 death toll stands at 6,829, according to the Ministry of Health’s report on Sunday.
The report also shows the country has registered 155 fresh cases and 76 recoveries on Sunday, taking the infections tally to 373, 115 and recovery count to 350, 368.
There are now 15, 916 active cases of COVID-19 nationwide. Of these, 157 are severely sick patients who are receiving medical treatments, the report claims.
Health officials have continued to push ahead with their vaccine drives on Sunday as well.
In the last 24-hours, nearly 21, 700 doses of Covid vaccine have been offered to the public.
The new figure has taken the total number of doses administered in the country so far close to 10.43 million.
Ethiopia, which started its vaccine drive this year in March, has fully immunized a total of 8, 976, 651 people against the acute respiratory disease.
Currently, COVID-19 positivity rate in Ethiopia has gone down to 3 percent from 18 percent four months ago.
