Ethiopia is set host the International Quran and Azan Competition with more than 100 competitors from 60 countries have confirmed participation in the prestigious competition, APA can report on Tuesday.
A five-day prestigious event marks the second round of the Ethiopian International Quran and Azan Competition Award and is anticipated to kick off tomorrow on January 29, 2025.
President of the Zayd Ibn Thabit Qur’an Association and Head of the Ethiopian International Qur’an and Azan Competition, Nuredin Qasim indicated that two males and one female contenders representing Ethiopia have been selected, along with contestants from Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and America.
Qasim expressed optimism about the event’s success, noting that it will attract numerous countries and tourists to Ethiopia. “This competition underscores Ethiopia’s role as a center of cultural and religious significance,” Dr. Nuredin remarked.
Leading up to the international competition, Ethiopia held a national final on January 22, 2025, where competitors from across the country’s regions were represented by their respective Islamic Affairs High Councils.
Majority of the competitors and 11 judges representing various regions of the world have arrived in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia.
The competition is anticipated to significantly boost Ethiopia’s tourism sector and the Ministry of Tourism, in collaboration with the Oromia Tourism Commission, announced completion of preparations to welcome guests, ensuring a smooth and enriching experience for attendees.
