Briefing journalist on Monday, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said the revenue saw a 14 percent increase compared to that of the income earned during the previous year.
The airline logged an impressive 577,746 flight hours, marking a 19 percent increase from the previous record. According to Mesfin Tasew, the Group’s CEO, Ethiopian Airlines has expanded its international destinations to 139 and domestic routes to 21 excluding Addis Ababa Bole international Airport.
The CEO said the geopolitical conflicts including the Russian- Ukraine conflict, Hamas and Israel fighting, Sudan conflict and increase in fuel prices have remained the pressing challenges for the global aviation industry.
Tasew said despite such hurdles, the airliner managed to earn 7.02 billion U.S. dollars by transporting 17.1 million passengers with 13.4 million of them being international travelers and carrying 754,681 tons of cargo during the period.
He said five new passenger aircrafts were put into operation during the year, making the total fleet of the airliner to 145.
During the fiscal year, the airline served a total of 17.1 million passengers, which included 13.4 million international travelers and 3.7 million domestic passengers, the CEO pointed out.
The CEO noted a significant increase in demand for domestic flights, with the previous fiscal year seeing 2.7 million domestic travelers.
The CEO said the airline’s network has expanded to 139 international and 21 domestic destinations, excluding the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.
