African aviation giant, Ethiopian Airlines, has been crowned for the 7th consecutive time as the continent’s best airlines of 2024 by SkyTrax Awards held on Monday at London Fermont Windsor Park.
Ethiopian Airlines has also been awarded three categories-Best Business Class in Africa, Best Economic Class in Africa and Best Economic Class Onboard Catering in Africa, according to a statement issued by the airlines on Monday.
Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mesfin Tasew, on the occasion said, “We are pleased to have proudly received the prestigious World Airline Award 2024 for the seventh consecutive year.
“At Ethiopian Airlines’ unwavering dedication to customer-centric innovation has been pivotal to our success. We remain at the forefront of the aviation industry by continually adopting cutting-edge technology to elevate our passengers’ experience,” the airlines’ CEO was quoted as saying.
Following Ethiopian Airlines, Royal Air Maroc, South African Airways, Kenya Airways and RwandAir took 2nd 3rd, 4th and 5th in Africa respectively.
Ethiopian Airlines ranked 36th in the global ranking, one rank lower than last year’s ranking.
Qatar Airways reclaimed its world best Airlines position for the 8th time in 25 years, which was taken by Singapore Airlines last year.
Singapore Airlines slipped 2nd position this year.
Emirates, ANA All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways and Japan Airlines respectively ranked from 3rd to 6th position, according to the SkyTrax Airlines Award.
