At the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) 2024, which opens in Beijing on 4th through to 6th of September, Morocco is working to consolidate its bilateral relations.
This international meeting is helping to promote multidimensional cooperation between Africa and China, focusing on peace and development on the continent.
Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita took part in the ministerial discussions and underlined the importance of this event in strengthening Morocco’s relations with its African partners and China. Now in its 24th year, FOCAC remains a key event in Sino-African cooperation.
At the meeting, co-chaired by Chinese Minister Wang Yi and his Senegalese counterpart Yassine Fall, participants adopted the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
These documents, endorsed by 189 countries, lay the foundations for gender equality and the empowerment of women, while embodying the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
On the sidelines of the FOCAC, Mr Bourita exchanged views with several counterparts on strategies for stability and development in Africa, highlighting the importance of South-South cooperation.
He also attended the Indonesia-Africa Forum in Bali, where he called for better economic links between Indonesia and Africa, in particular by facilitating access to the Atlantic Ocean for Sahelian countries.
These meetings reflect Morocco’s proactive approach to international cooperation and sustainable development in Africa.
