Former Rwanda’s beauty pageant winner Elisa Iradukunda’s file was handed to prosecution on Monday where she is facing charge of for allegedly interfering with ongoing investigations on sexual assaults and sexual harassment, a judicial source said Monday.
The beauty queen is currently detained at a police station in Kigali after she was arrested on suspicion of using forged documents in an attempt to hamper the ongoing investigations engaging the former CEO of Miss Rwanda beauty contest, Dieudonne Ishimwe a.k.a ‘Prince Kid’
The charges against Ishimwe include three counts of rape, soliciting or offering sexual favours, and harassment.
Iradukunda’s arrest is connected to the note she and other former Miss Rwanda contestants signed, confirming or dismissing reports that they were subject to sex abuse by the Miss Rwanda organizer.
Upon conviction, she is liable to imprisonment for a term of not less than five (5) years, but not more than seven (7) years.
In the meanwhile, sdetails indicate that after the incident, Rwanda’s ministry of Youth and Culture decided to suspend the beauty pangeant contest pending ongoing investigation into alleged sexual assault by organisers.
