Police in The Gambia say they have rounded up members of a gang involved in a spate of armed robberies outside the capital Banjul in recent weeks.
Robberies and theft cases were reported at the Dalaba Estate, outside the coastal town of Brufut.
The Bravo company of the Police Intervention Unit on Tuesday raided the estate leading to the arrest of nine Nigerians and a Gambian woman who were found to be between the ages of 18 and 30.
In the course of their investigation police discovered an assortment of items including clothes, shoes, laptops, a generator, bags, mobile phones, and cutlasses among other hauls apparently kept at the gang’s storehouse.
The police said it was enjoining the public to remain vigilant and report incidents that are considered out of the ordinary.
Armed robberies have been regular in The Gambia in the last few years.
