The government of The Gambia Monday announced key appointments at the highest levels of the executive.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services received by APA, President Adama Barrow has created a new ministerial portfolio within his office.
The incumbent will serve as Barrow’s principal advisor and administrator, ensuring effective coordination of the president’s priorities.
President Barrow appointed Mod K. Ceesay as Chief of Staff and Minister of the Presidency, effective November 18.
Mr. Ceesay will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Office of the President and coordinating the work of the various ministries and departments in implementing the president’s decisions.
In addition, as part of a reorganisation aimed at increasing efficiency, the president has decided to merge the traditionally separate roles of Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Public Service.
As a result, Alieu Njie was appointed to the newly created position of Secretary to the Cabinet and Head of the Public Service, effective November 15, 2024.
This move is aimed at consolidating development policy at cabinet level, while ensuring the smooth implementation of programmes across the public administration.
