President John Dramani Mahama has appointed a committee of eight experts to spearhead the organization of a major national forum on the future of education in Ghana.
The committee, chaired by Professor KT Oduro, has a two-week deadline to submit a preparatory report, including a proposed theme and sub-themes for the forum, and to outline a plan for inclusive stakeholder engagement.
The forum aims to foster a constructive dialogue among all stakeholders within the education sector, including educators, parents, students, and policymakers.
The committee’s mandate includes identifying key stakeholders within the education sector, proposing a suitable venue and dates for the national forum, developing a provisional budget for the forum’s organization, and drafting a comprehensive national education policy framework, accompanied by an action plan and specific recommendations.
The committee comprises renowned education experts: Professors Goski Alabi, Rosemary Bosu, and Smile Dzisi, Dr. Samuel Awuku, and Messrs. Kofi Asare, Stephen Owusu, and Inusah Shiraz.
This initiative marks a significant step towards a comprehensive reform of the Ghanaian education system, prioritizing broad-based consultations and inclusive decision-making.
