The Black Galaxies of Ghana on Saturday defeated their Nigerian counterparts, the Super Eagles B team 5-4 on penalties in the second leg of the qualifier for the 2023 African Nations Championship in Algeria.
The match played at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja saw the two sides settle for penalty shootout after the Nigerian team scored 2 goals to bring the aggregate score line to 2-2.
The Black Galaxies had won the first leg encounter 2-0 in Cape Coast, but failed to score any goal in Nigeria until the penalty shootout.
Although two Nigerian players, Muhammed Zulkifilu and Chijioke Akuneto scored two goals in the second half to cancel the 2-goal advantage of the Ghanaians, the Nigerian players could only score 4 out of 5 penalties, while the Ghanaians were able to score all their 5 penalties.
With this victory, the Black Galaxies have qualified for the 2023 African Nations Championship in Algeria.
