The press in Accra on Thursday focuses on a meeting planned between the security agencies and church leaders in Ghana, following terrorism attacks in the country’s neighbouring countries.
The Daily Graphic writes that the meeting scheduled for Thursday will discuss how to enhance security in the various churches after terrorists attacked and killed six people, including a priest, in Burkina Faso, Ghana’s immediate neighbour.
The meeting will enable the churches receive security tips from the National Security and help them to put in preventive measures.
The newspaper said the General Secretary of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Rev. Emmanuel Barrigah, confirmed that the meeting.
The newspaper said beside that, the National Chief Imam of Ghana, Sheik Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has urged Muslims to report strangers, who come to their communities with views that are contrary to the tenets of Islam.
The Ghanaian Times, for its part, said eight Fire Service persons had been dismissed between January and April this year for impersonation, recruitment fraud, stealing and failing to report for duty within 10 days among others.
The Head of Communications of the Ghana National Fire Service, Ellis Okoe, said two others had been interdicted and were facing service enquiry.
