The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has announced that the country’s inflation rate fell to 25.0% in April 2024, down from 25.8% recorded in March this year.
According to the statement released by the GSS on Wednesday in Accra, the Month-on-month inflation rate between March and April this year stood at 1.8%.
It added that the marginal drop in the Con¬sumer Price Index, which measures inflation, was due to the drop in food inflation rate in April which fell by 2.1% to 26.8% in April from 29.6% in March.
The statement, however, stated that Non-food inflation increased by 1.5% to 23.5% in April up from 22.6% in March.
The Non food items listed included accommodation, personal care, social protection and miscellaneous goods and services, health, recre¬ation, sport and culture which recoded higher inflation rates in April
According to the GSS figures for April, the inflation rate for locally produced items fell to 25.7% from 26.6% in March, while the inflation rate for imported items also fell to 23.5% in April from 23.8% in March this year.
