Ghana’s inflation rate for March 2024 increased to 25.8%, according to the Ghana Statistical Services.
Government Statistician, Professor Samuel Annim, told a news conference on Wednesday in Accra that the figure for March was higher than 23,2 recorded in February this year.
He said that food inflation for March was 29.6% as against 27% recorded in February this year.
“In the month of March 2024, rate of inflation stood at 25.8%, year-on-year inflation relative to 23.2 % recorded for the month of February 2024. This indicates that we have a seen a surge in the rate of inflation by 2.6%, increasing from 23.2% to 25.8% for the month of March 2024,” he said.
According to him, the rate of inflation for food was 29.6%,in March as against 27% in February, while non food inflation was 22.6% in March, up from 20% in February
He stated that inflation for imported items was 23.8%, while that of locally produced items was 26.6% for the month of March.
