The congress being held from 15 to 17 November in Abu Dhabi contributes to the promotion of tolerance and coexistence, according to the acting director general of the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA).
Mohammed bin Abed Rabbo Al-Yami said on Wednesday that the Global Media Congress in the UAE capital presents an opportunity for the media of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states to learn about the latest technologies and best practices.
In the media industry, it also promotes knowledge and coexistence between different peoples and cultures.
According to Al-Yami, the congress which is organised by ADNEC Group in partnership with the Emirates News Agency (WAM) also confirms the important and central role of the United Arab Emirates, headed by prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al. Nahyan, in launching global projects and initiatives.
“This is the culmination of years of efforts in which the UAE has been able to build an integrated international media system based on supporting development efforts, promoting tolerance and spreading knowledge,” he said.
Al-Yami praised the efforts of the UAE News Agency in organising the congress, explaining that these efforts confirm the excellence of OIC news agencies and their leadership in exploring and adapting to transformations in the field of media work.
The Global Media Congress was attended by more than 1,200 media leaders and pioneers, specialists, influencers, experts and thought leaders from the region and the world, representing six continents.
