APA-Conakry (Guinea) Guinea’s Health Minister Dr. Mamadou Phete Diallo has stepped down from his post in the West African country’s transitional government, reports said on Wednesday.
Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, head of the Guinean state, terminated his functions. No explanation has yet been given.
The reasons for his dismissal have not yet been revealed.
The previous Director of the Department of Health has been replaced by Dr. Oumar Diouhe BAH, who was previously National Director of Pharmacy and Medicines.
Dr. Mamadou Pethe Diallo had been in post since October 25, 2021. He was a member of the first transitional government, led by Mohamed Beavogui, and held the position of Minister for over two years. Before taking on ministerial responsibilities, he had worked in Guinea-Bissau as a Representative and Resident Coordinator of the United Nations.
Dr. Diallo’s departure from the government follows the dismissal of four ministers since September 5, 2021, when Colonel Doumbouya came to power following a coup against Alpha Conde.
