APA-Conakry (Guinea) The disbanding of the presidential guard battalion comes three days after the dismissal of the head of the military intelligence services.
In a decree, Mamadi Doumbouya, Guinea’s junta leader announced the dissolution of the presidential security battalion (BSP).
No reasons were given for the decision in the decree, which was read out on national television (RTG) on Thursday 27 April.
Colonel Doumbouya said that the Minister of National Defense and the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces are each responsible for the proper implementation of this decree.
This is the decision that has affected the army in less than 72 hours and it coincides with the hunt for the fetishist, Mofa Sory Douno, who predicted the fall of the junta in 18 or 28 days.
But since last April, reports have been rife about the escape of Major Aly Camara, head of operations for the Special Forces.
The officer played an important role in the overthrow of the Alpha Conde regime on the morning of September 5, 2021.
Detained at Camp Soronkoni, in the Kankan region, he allegedly managed to escape.
Recently, security measures have been reinforced in the city of Kankan, which is under the administrative authority of the camp.
The authorities have not yet commented on this case.
